The Government of Canada has renewed the popular ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes program. From June 6, 2011, until March 31, 2012, homeowners are eligible to receive grants of up to $5,000 to make their homes more energy-efficient. Homeowners who participated in the program to date have saved 20 percent on their energy bills.

Installing a new geoexchange system qualifies for a $4,375 grant from the government. Take advantage of the savings!


Each province offers different levels and types of incentives. Please click on your province to see what types of incentives are available for your geoexchange installation.

  • The LiveSmart BC’s Efficiency Incentive Program is available to homeowners in the Province of B.C. who have an initial (pre-retrofit) energy assessment performed on or after April 1, 2011 and complete a follow-up (post-retrofit) energy assessment by March 31, 2013. Grants are offered for up to $2,500 for a geothermal heat pump.
  • Customers of FortisBC, or one of Grand Forks, Kelowna, Penticton, Summerland or Nelson Hydro municipal utilities qualify for a FortisBC Ground Source Heat Pump Rebate or Loan of $0.05/kWh or a loan of up to $5000 OAC financed over 10 years at 4.9%.
  • Alberta does not currently offer any grants for geoexchange systems.
